I am starting this blog to document my experience with my Haiti mission trip coming up in August. I am doing this with the encouragement of my husband. If you are reading this, thank you!
I made the decision in April to travel to Haiti with a group from my church. It was a hard decision to make, and I'm not entirely sure why. But, what I can tell you is that when I made the decision, I made it without reservation so I know this time, I am ready!
We leave August 12th and we will be working to care for the people of Haiti by delivering water to those who don't have any, caring for sick and dying babies and caring for children at an orphanage. I can not wait to see how this trip will change my life.
Our team has been working together to raise money for the trip, we recently finished up a very successful garage sale and we are looking forward to another event we will be having in June - Bounce For Haiti! It has been wonderful to get to know my travel companions by working with each other.
We are still 2-1/2 months out from our trip so I am feeling pretty good. I sent in my deposit and got my passport without any anxiety. Our airline tickets were booked this week - starting to feel that it is real. Tomorrow I go see the "travel doctor" - eek! I am starting to have little twinges of fear, but still my desire to go outweighs my fears at this point. We'll see how I feel on Aug 11th!
I am a little worried to leave the kids, but Dana said he's "got this", I am trusting him that he does. I'll be looking to set up play dates for the kids while I am gone, so if you are reading this - either let me know if you are available the week of Aug 12th or fill up your calendar quick!!!
Anyway, enough for today. I am going to attempt to attach the Healing Hait website in case anyone is interested in seeing what my team and I will be doing. Please pray for all of us - there are 12 of us on this team.
